A's Come Back From 10 Down, Stun Twins In Controversial Finish - MLB - Oakland Athletics News Story - KERO Bakersfield turnto23.com
With Delmon Young at the plate, Wuertz uncorked a wild pitch. The ball bounced high behind catcher Kurt Suzuki, who had trouble locating it, giving Cuddyer extra time as he was waved home. Suzuki finally threw to the plate and Wuertz applied the game-ending tag, though replays showed Cuddyer slid in safely.
Cuddyer and Twins manager Ron Gardenhire were irate at the call from home plate umpire Mike Muchlinski.
"We definitely thought [Cuddyer] was safe," said Gardenhire. "He slid in and was safe, there's no doubt about that. We got a little bit of a bad call there."
